Custom Performance Sheer Drapery — a portfolio project documenting a window treatment approach in Malibu, CA. A studio reference in design intent, material specification, and architectural reasoning.
The homeowner wanted to preserve unobstructed ocean views while reducing glare, UV exposure, and heat gain throughout the day. The project also required a solution appropriate for a coastal environment where fabrics are exposed to strong sunlight, humidity, and salt air.
The studio specified high-performance sheer drapery engineered for coastal applications — a treatment designed to maintain the visual connection to the Pacific Ocean while improving comfort and protecting the interior furnishings from sun damage.
High-performance sheer engineered for coastal applications. The fabric provides UV protection, solar control, long-term durability, salt-air resistance, soft light filtration, and preservation of the ocean view.
Ripple fold heading on a recessed ceiling track, allowing the sheer to stack tightly off-glass and read as a continuous wave of fabric across the wall of glass.
Ceiling-mounted, full-height panels installed wall-to-wall to frame the ocean view and protect the primary suite from west-facing afternoon sun.
The finished installation preserved the client's panoramic ocean views while providing improved solar performance, light control, and durability. The solution delivered the elegance of custom drapery without sacrificing the primary architectural feature of the home: its connection to the ocean.
