Custom Drapery Workroom in Los Angeles

House of Drapery operates as a professional custom drapery workroom for the Los Angeles trade — interior designers, decorators, builders, architects, AV integrators, and the firms specifying soft window treatments on the city’s most considered residences and commercial interiors. Hand fabrication, written specification, motorization integration, and white-glove installation under one studio led by Olga Rechdouni, ASID.

For the Trade

Drapery Fabrication for Designers, Builders & Architects

Interior Designers & Decorators

Trade pricing, dedicated project management, shop drawings, and full specification support. Your fabric or ours, your hardware or ours, written to your project standard.

Builders & General Contractors

Drapery and motorization specified from the rough-electrical stage forward — track pockets, low-voltage runs, keypad coordination, and field measurement coordinated with the construction schedule.

Architects

Drapery and shading written into the architectural set, with ceiling pocket details, motorization scope, and acoustic specification documented for the contractor of record.

AV & Smart-Home Integrators

Lutron, Crestron, Savant, Control4 — drapery and shade motorization coordinated to your project's keypad ecosystem, with scene logic and astronomical-clock programming written alongside your design.

Workroom Capabilities

What the Workroom Builds

Custom Drapery Fabrication

French pleat, ripple fold, Euro, goblet, cartridge, tailored flat-panel — hand tacked, interlined, weighted, and finished to studio specification.

Roman Shade Fabrication

Flat, relaxed, and hobbled folds, interlined for body, cordless or motorized lift, every shade weighted to fall straight.

Motorization Integration

Lutron Sivoia, Somfy Sonesse, Crestron Horizon — hardwired DC motors specified and commissioned to your existing control platform.

Decorative Hardware

Hand-forged bronze, hand-wrought iron, unlacquered brass — rods, rings, brackets, and custom finials from trusted American and European workshops.

Cornices, Valances & Upholstered Treatments

Hand-built upholstered cornices, shaped valances, monogrammed and trimmed to specification.

On-Site Installation

The studio's own install crew — rolling scaffolds, hand tacking on site, commissioning on the homeowner's keypad before we leave.

A note on construction

The hem is the shoe of the drapery

In the studio’s professional opinion, the hem is one of the defining indicators of luxury custom drapery. For most floor-length panels our workroom specifies a 4-inch double-fold hem with approximately 8 inches of fabric allowance and, on lightweight cloths and tall panels, a concealed bottom weight chain sewn into the hem. Where the fabric requires it — sheers, organza, fine silks — alternative techniques (blind stitch, slip stitch, fine rolled / Euro hem) are specified instead. Industry standards are professional starting points; construction is specified to the fabric, not duplicated from the last project. Construction decisions of this kind are personally specified by Olga Rechdouni, ASID.
