A portfolio project documenting a window-treatment approach in Pacific Palisades, CA. A studio reference in design intent, material specification, and architectural reasoning.
A traditional Pacific Palisades master bedroom with matched flanking windows, ornate French paneling, and a single monogram initial the client wanted carried discreetly through every soft element in the room. The brief was unmistakably bridal — all white, all light, but heirloom-quality and personal.
Matched scalloped cornice boxes over each window, upholstered in soft white linen and centered with a hand-embroidered monogram in tonal silver thread to echo the bed linens and the carved boiserie above the headboard. Full-length white linen drapery panels behind each cornice, lined and interlined for weighted drape, dressed open with tasseled tiebacks so the garden light carries into the room.
Soft white Belgian linen for both the cornice faces and the drapery panels; cotton sateen lining with bump interlining for weighted fall; hand-embroidered tonal silver monogram on each cornice.
Hand-built wood cornice frames, scalloped and upholstered on-site; concealed traverse rods behind the cornices; antique-silver tassel tiebacks at the return.
Cornice frames built and upholstered in the studio, monograms embroidered to match the bedding, then set on-site over a single day. Drapery panels steam-trained and dressed with even folds so the side returns sit flat against the boiserie.
The two windows now read as a matched pair of bespoke architectural elements — the monogrammed cornices crown the room, the white linen panels carry the garden light, and every soft surface in the bedroom speaks the same monogram.
