Terms of Service

Last updated: June 18, 2026

1. Scope of Services

House of Drapery provides custom drapery design, specification, and consultation services in the greater Los Angeles area. Services include in-home consultations, fabric and hardware selection, custom measurement, professional coordination with workrooms, and installation supervision. Deliverables and timelines are defined in individual project proposals.

2. Consultations

Initial consultations are conducted by appointment at the client's property or by virtual meeting. The consultation fee, if applicable, is disclosed prior to scheduling and may be credited toward the project upon contract execution. Consultations include assessment of windows, discussion of design objectives, and preliminary recommendations.

3. Proposals & Quotations

All project quotations are provided in writing and are valid for the period stated in the proposal. Quotations are based on measurements, fabric selections, hardware specifications, and labor estimates available at the time of preparation. Significant changes to scope, materials, or site conditions may necessitate a revised quotation.

4. Deposits & Payment

A deposit is required to commence fabrication, with the balance due prior to installation unless otherwise agreed in writing. Accepted payment methods and schedule are specified in the project contract. Late payments may delay fabrication or installation timelines.

5. Cancellations & Refunds

Custom drapery is made to order. Once fabric has been ordered or cutting has commenced, cancellations are not eligible for refund. Deposits for work not yet begun may be refundable minus administrative fees, at the studio's discretion. Consultation fees are non-refundable.

6. Fabric & Material Variance

Natural fibers and hand-finished textiles may exhibit slight variations in color, texture, and weave. These are inherent characteristics of luxury materials, not defects. Dye lots may vary between orders. The studio makes every effort to match samples to delivered goods; however, screen displays and lighting conditions can affect color perception.

7. Installation & Site Conditions

Installation is scheduled after fabrication is complete and the site is ready. The client is responsible for ensuring access, clearing the work area, and disclosing any unusual wall conditions, fixtures, or obstacles that may affect installation. Additional charges may apply for conditions not disclosed prior to quotation.

8. Warranty & Care

Workmanship is warranted against defects in construction for a period specified in the project contract. Fabric warranties are provided by the respective mills and brands. Proper care, including professional cleaning recommendations provided at installation, is required to maintain warranty coverage. Damage resulting from improper care, alterations, or environmental factors is not covered.

9. Intellectual Property

All designs, drawings, specifications, and proprietary methods developed by House of Drapery remain the intellectual property of the studio. Project photographs may be used for portfolio, marketing, and editorial purposes unless the client requests confidentiality in writing prior to photography.

10. Limitation of Liability

House of Drapery's liability is limited to the value of services rendered under the specific project contract. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. This limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted by California law.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes arising from services provided by House of Drapery shall be resolved in the courts of Los Angeles County, California.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued engagement with our services constitutes acceptance of the current terms.
