Malibu Oceanfront Residence
Signature Design Concept — an editorial concept study created by the studio to demonstrate House of Drapery's specification practice in cloth, heading, hardware, motorization, and architectural integration. All imagery is illustrative rendering, not a photograph of a completed installation. No construction or installation has occurred at any specific address; this is a portfolio and editorial design study.

Signature Design Concept — Oceanfront Layered Drapery Program — a portfolio project documenting a window treatment approach in Malibu, CA. A studio reference in design intent, material specification, and architectural reasoning.
An editorial design study for a Malibu oceanfront residence with wall-to-wall floor-to-ceiling glass, an unobstructed Pacific horizon, and a west-facing exposure that demands serious UV and solar performance without ever stepping in front of the view.
Wall-to-wall ceiling-mounted ripple fold drapery in a soft white performance sheer linen for the living area, engineered for coastal applications and stacking tight off-glass to leave the ocean horizon alone. The primary suite is specified as a sunset layered program: an outboard performance sheer for daytime softening, an inboard ripple-fold blackout in soft champagne silk-blend for sleep, both motorized on a recessed Lutron track.
Soft white performance sheer linen with UV-resistant warp (living area); inherently fire-retardant sheer Belgian linen voile (suite outboard); silk-blend three-pass blackout-lined ripple fold in soft champagne (suite inboard).
Recessed ceiling pocket with Lutron QS hardwired motors; uniform ripple-fold carriers; no exposed hardware. Marine-grade stainless steel fasteners specified throughout for salt-air resistance.
Pocket coordinated with the architect for a continuous ceiling-to-floor plane; motors commissioned with the AV integrator before any cloth is hung.
Lutron QS hardwired DC motors. One keypad scene opens the living-area sheer at sunrise; a second scene closes the suite inboard blackout at sleep; a third scene runs the full sunset sequence from the bedside.
An editorial design study showing how a Malibu oceanfront residence is specified when the view is the architecture — performance cloth, recessed ceiling pocket, hardwired motorization, and zero exposed hardware to compete with the Pacific.
