Linen vs Performance Drapery Fabrics
When the brief calls for a natural cloth and when the architecture demands engineered performance.
This is the most common cloth decision in a contemporary Los Angeles drapery program. Both fabrics can read as quietly luxurious; they perform very differently against the conditions that actually determine cloth life.
Linen Drapery Fabrics
Belgian and Italian linens — the studio's default cloth for luxury residential drapery.
PerformancePerformance Drapery Fabrics
Engineered weaves that hold their hand against sun, salt air, and a decade of daily operation.
When linen is the right answer
North and east-facing primary suites. Dining rooms and libraries with controlled light. Estate-scale rooms where the cloth is meant to read as artisanal and the operation is low-cycle.
When performance fabric is the right answer
Oceanfront and coastal residences. West and south Los Angeles elevations with unobstructed exposure. Motorized programs operating on a daily scene schedule. Any project where 20–30 year cloth life matters more than the cloth being natural.
