A portfolio project documenting a window-treatment approach in Woodland Hills, CA. A studio reference in design intent, material specification, and architectural reasoning.
A traditional Mediterranean home with 14-foot ceilings in the formal rooms and a homeowner reluctant to spend on drapery that would be 'just fabric.' The architecture was asking for tailored, architectural drapery; the previous installation had delivered grommet panels.
We removed the existing grommet panels and specified hand-tacked French pleat drapery, ceiling-mounted, at 2.75x fullness, in a warm cream wool blend. The change reframed every room in the formal wing.
Cream-toned wool-and-linen blend, interlined for fold depth and weight, lined in cotton sateen.
Hand-forged bronze rods and rings, custom finials, ceiling-bracketed to maximize stack height.
Hand-pleated and steamed in the studio. Final dressing of folds on site over a single morning.
The formal rooms now read as the architecture always intended. The client now describes the drapery as the most important decision they made for the home — and has commissioned the studio for the rest of the residence.
