Custom Drapery & Top Treatment Portfolio — a portfolio project documenting a window treatment approach in Los Angeles, CA. A studio reference in design intent, material specification, and architectural reasoning.

The Brief

This collection brought together several distinct residential window-treatment briefs under one studio language: preserving ocean and city views, softening strong daylight, adding privacy without heaviness, and tailoring each treatment to the architecture of the room. The design intent varied from airy coastal sheers to tailored valances and more structured decorative panels, but each installation needed to feel precise, elevated, and fully custom.

The Design Response

Each room was resolved according to its architecture and use. Sheer panels were specified where the view needed to remain dominant, shaped valances and upholstered top treatments were used where greater formality or frame definition was required, and fuller decorative drapery was chosen where the room benefitted from softness, color, and visual weight. Across the collection, proportion, mounting height, trim detail, and disciplined fullness were treated as the defining design tools.

Materials & Performance

A mix of soft-filtering sheers, tailored decorative textiles, and lined drapery fabrics selected for hand, light behavior, and architectural character. The palette moves from blush neutrals and ivory to powder blue, coral, butter yellow, and warm cream, allowing each room to carry its own mood while remaining refined.

Ceiling-mounted and high-mounted custom hardware selected to suit each condition, including decorative rods, concealed support where needed, shaped valance construction, and carefully scaled tieback placement to maintain clean drape and proportion.

Each treatment was measured and fabricated for its specific opening, with mounting heights and returns calibrated to emphasize ceiling line, preserve usable glass, and create a finished architectural envelope around the window or door assembly.

The Result

The finished collection shows a broad range of the studio's design vocabulary: luminous sheers for view-driven rooms, tailored bedroom framing with monogrammed valances, crisp blue and black-trim architectural statements, and warmer coral and butter tones that bring softness and personality to formal interiors. Together the projects demonstrate how custom drapery can solve performance needs while reading as part of the architecture rather than an afterthought.
