A completed condominium project in Beverly Hills, California, where powder-blue, blush-pink and sunflower velvet drapery, shaped upholstered cornices and decorative trims give each room its own character within one decorative program.
House of Drapery by Duroque designed and completed this custom window-treatment project for a Beverly Hills condominium with a richly decorated, European-inspired interior. Velvet was used throughout in three colourways — powder blue in the living room, blush pink in the primary suite and sunflower in the office — each paired with shaped upholstered cornices, decorative cords, tassels, trims and ornamental holdbacks. All of the drapery was lined, with blackout lining in the primary bedroom and light-filtering lining elsewhere.
Powder-Blue Velvet in the Living Room
The living room sets the tone for the residence. Powder-blue velvet was chosen for its depth and softness, worked into shaped upholstered treatments that sit comfortably alongside the room's antique pieces, artwork and layered textiles.
Two matching powder-blue velvet treatments were designed for the windows flanking the fireplace. Rather than treating the windows independently, the compositions mirror one another: the drapery stacks toward the left on one side and toward the right on the other, creating a balanced relationship across the fireplace.
Ornament at Close Range
Decorative detail carries as much weight as the fabric itself in this interior. Cords, tassels and contrasting accents were specified for each treatment so that the drapery continues to reward attention when seen from a few feet away.

A Softer Register in the Primary Suite
The primary suite moves the palette toward blush pink. A shaped upholstered cornice crowns the treatment, giving the window an architectural presence while the drapery below stays soft and romantic.
All of the drapery in the project was lined. Blackout lining was used in the primary bedroom for privacy and light control, while light-filtering lining was used with the other drapery treatments to support the intended drape and presentation of the fabric. These are verified project specifications rather than details the photographs necessarily demonstrate.
Cornices, Piping and Passementerie
The blush treatments were finished with tassels, ornamental holdbacks and piped edges. Each cornice was shaped and upholstered to suit its window, with the profile drawn to complement the proportions of the room rather than repeated from a standard form.
Sunflower Velvet in the Office
The office was given the boldest colour in the residence. Sunflower velvet, paired with its own custom cornice, brings warmth to a working room that opens onto the patio, allowing the space to hold its own identity within the wider decorative program.
Trim as the Finishing Gesture
Contrasting rust-toned trim, layered tiebacks and leading-edge detailing complete the office treatment. These finishing decisions are what tie the three colourways together: different fabrics, one consistent level of embellishment and craftsmanship.
