How to Measure for Custom Drapery

Why on-site installer measurements — not client-supplied dimensions — are non-negotiable in luxury custom drapery.

The studio does not fabricate from client-supplied measurements. Every opening is measured by our installer, on site, to the sixteenth of an inch.

Why measurements come from the installer

Architecture drifts. Window openings move during construction. Mount heights interact with crown, beams, and millwork in ways drawings rarely capture.

What the installer documents

Width to the sixteenth, length to the sixteenth, surrounding architecture, finish floor, ceiling plane, adjacent millwork, mounting substrate.

When measurements are taken on new construction

After drywall, paint, and finish floor; before cabinetry that affects mounting.
