How to Choose Drapery Length

Floor-grazing, kiss-to-floor, break, or puddle — length is a formality decision before it is a measurement one.

Drapery length is the second most visible specification in any program. Get the length wrong and the panel reads as builder-grade no matter how exquisite the fabric.

Kiss-to-floor

The studio's default. The panel meets the floor cleanly without pooling. Reads tailored and timeless.

Half-inch break

Acceptable when the floor is uneven or the architecture asks for a slightly softer reading.

Puddle

Romantic, formal, traditional. Specify only when the architecture and room temperature support it.

Floating short

Acceptable only on radiator-front or bench-seat windows where floor-length is not possible.
