How a luxury drapery installation actually unfolds.
From the first site visit to the final hand-trained pleat. A working guide for homeowners, interior designers, architects, and builders preparing for a drapery program.
- 01Consultation
A measured site visit. Olga reads the architecture, the light exposure, and how the room is lived in before any direction is given.
- 02Measurement
Final measurements taken with hardware location confirmed — ceiling, soffit, beam, or frame mount, including return depth and stack space.
- 03Specification
Written drapery specification: pleat style, fullness, lining, interlining, hem allowance, hardware finish, and motorization plan.
- 04Fabrication
Panels are cut, weighted, lined, and hand-finished in the studio. Fabrication runs three to six weeks after fabric arrives; estate-scale programs run longer.
- 05Hardware Mounting
Tracks, rods, and motorized systems are installed by the studio team — never sub-contracted out to a generic handyman.
- 06Hanging & Dressing
Panels are hung, steamed, and trained into their pleats by hand. Drapery is set so the fold pattern reads cleanly from day one.
- 07Post-Install Care
A written care document covers vacuuming cadence, periodic professional cleaning, and motorization service intervals.
For the studio’s LA install practice see drapery installation in Los Angeles; for the hardware specified on day one see drapery rods, tracks & hardware; and for the top treatment that completes most traditional installs see cornice boxes & upholstered pelmets.
